Get to know Chris Mayfield.

Redemption Road is an opportunity to show how God is taking me through ransoming situations. Life experiences where I can choose to serve rather than be served, and in that emptying process truly show who Christ is in me, so that He gets ALL of the glory. Here are three areas I live in everyday:

Husband-Paul shares in Ephesians 5:1 “to be imitators of God.” And later in that chapter he uses marriage in verses 22-33 as the example in showing the mystery of Christ and the church. So on July 15th 1995 God called Cheramy and I to use our lives of oneness to preach the mystery of the gospel to every one we come in contact with in our daily lives.

Father-I have always been struck by the story of the prodigal son, it is rich story. I particularly like the part where the son is coming to senses and realizes he has squandered his life away and packages together what he will say to his father. But what is interesting is he has no idea how is dad will react but scripture says in vs 20 he rose and came to his father telling me he knew his father would allow him to come back and then you see the reaction of the father when he sees his son far away…he runs to him. I think that was a one-sided run, if you had left the home to early in rebellion and you had squandered away all that had been given to you I don’t think any of us would be approaching the authority figure with boldness…but the father ran and not only that he ran with compassion. I too want to run to my children not because of what they have done or what they could possibly do, but just because they are my children. Everyday I return to the father with more failure and losing and THE Father continues to run after me with unconditional love.

Pastor-I love serving the church. And I love the opportunity God gave me 19 years ago to begin a life of service inside and outside of the church. God’s plan now until Jesus comes back is the church! I have been the founding and lead pastor of Journey Church for 5 1/2 years and I am excited to see the place of service He sending me next!
